The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is Kenya’s premier bar association, with membership of all practising advocates, currently numbering in excess of fourteen thousand. It has the mandate to advise and assist members of the legal profession, the government and the larger public in all matters relating to the administration of justice in Kenya.

The Society was established by an Act of Parliament – The Law Society of Kenya Act (Chapter 18 of the Laws of Kenya). The Law Society in its present form was formed in 1948 by section 3 of the Law Society of Kenya Ordinance, 1949. That Act was later repealed by the current Law Society of Kenya Act, which came into force on 30th October, 1992.

Faith Odhiambo is the President of the Law Society of Kenya and former Board Secretary of the Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya. She serves as a lecturer at the School of Law at the University of Nairobi and teaches Law of Business Associations, Banking Law, Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law. She is also a Partner at Ombok and Owuor LLP Advocates, based in Nairobi. Faith has experience in litigation, corporate and commercial law, telecommunications law and competition law.
She has also developed expertise in Banking Law, Financial services, Mediation and Arbitration. She was previously working with the Competition Authority of Kenya advising on the interpretation of the legal provisions in regarding violations under restrictive trade practices, merger transactions and consumer protection complaints, advising on merger applications, cases on restrictive trade practices. Faith was part of a team researching competition bottlenecks in mobile financial services in Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She has also been involved in a Retail Market Study of Kenya in 2017, Advisory Projects for Competition in the Mobile financial services in Tanzania, Advisory projects on Spectrum Management in Kenya. Advisory on the National Roaming, Telecommunications Tower Sharing and Termination Rates Network Cost Study 2022-together with Acacia Economics and Tilill Technologies for Communications Authority which involved review the laws and regulations, advisory on competition concerns.
Faith holds an LLB (Hons) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and an LLM (Hons) in International Commercial Law with European Law from University of Kent (UK). She is also a Certified Public Secretary, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-UK (MCIarb). She is a PhD student at the University of Nairobi.
Her research interests include Competition Law, Consumer Protection Law, Telecommunications Law, Banking Law, Financial Services, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, Women and Children’s rights, Climate Change, Human rights, Intellectual property rights, Economic law.

Tom K’Opere
Tom K’opere is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya of 32 years in active legal practice and is the Principal Partner in the Firm of T.O K’Opere & Co. Advocates which he founded in 1996. He has a wide experience in general practice of Law in both Criminal and Civil matters. His experience in Civil Law is mainly on Commercial Law Litigation, Conveyancing and Commercial transactions.
He has practiced in various Legal Fields including Banking Law, Property Law, Intellectual Property Law, Insurance Law, labour Law, Partnership Law, Conveyancing, Land Law (Leases, Charges, Transfers, Preparation of Deeds) Debt Recoveries, Marine Law, the Law of Succession and Perpetuities including equities and Commercial financial transaction including placement of securities.
He has also been involved in various criminal and constitutional proceedings. One example is the Constitutional Case in H.C MISC.A 345 OF 2001. The Decision on this case changed the Criminal jurisprudence in Kenya by permitting accused persons to be supplied with statements of witnesses and examine the exhibits and all Documents to be relied upon by the Prosecution before commencement of any criminal trial as was then guaranteed by Section 77 of the old Kenyan Constitution; an area hitherto untouched by Practitioners.
He holds an LLB (Hons) University of Nairobi, 1991, PGDip in Law (KSL), 1992 and is a Council Members of the Law Society of Kenya representing Advocates of over 25 Years in practice having been elected to the Council in 2022 and was recently declared Council Member elect unopposed in the upcoming elections on 29/02/24. He has also served in the LSK- CPD Committee for the last 18 years since 2006.
Teresia Wavinya Nicholas alias Tess
Teresia Wavinya is an Advocate of the High court of Kenya who is passionate, confident, articulate and multi-faceted person who cares deeply about the profession and the society at large. She has an outgoing and friendly personality, and highly skilled at: analyzing welfare issues that affect advocates and determining solutions while at it, lobbying and coordinating funding for advocates related activities.
She has gathered vast exposure in Criminal and Anti-corruption litigation, Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and infringement litigation, Commercial transaction, Arbitration, Conveyancing, Child maintenance, Custody, Paternity, and Constitutional Litigation while upholding the Rule of Law and access to justice for all from her previous and current work engagements namely: Havi & Company Advocates, Katwa and Kemboi Advocates, and Telow Advocates LLP.
Teresia is currently the Managing Partner of Telow Advocates LLP and the Legal Advisor to H.E Hon Wavinya Ndeti (Governor of Machakos County) where she heads the Legislation and Policy drafting, and Compliance Section at the office of the County Attorney in Machakos County due to her prowess of being keen to details.

He has served as External Examiner for the University of the Western Cape, University of Pretoria, Makerere University, University of Nairobi and the University of Eldoret. Having served as a Member of the Kenya School of Law Board, he has training and experience in corporate leadership, strategy formulation and execution, policy review, Board dynamics, institutional risk assessment, performance management, executive monitoring and oversight, and, “people skills” generally.
Professor Wabwile holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree of the University of Leicester, a Master of Law degree of the University of Cambridge, a Post-Graduate Diploma of the Kenya School of Law and a Bachelor of Laws degree of the University of Nairobi. He is a recipient of the 8th CB Madan Prize of the University of Nairobi (2020), a Commonwealth Post-Doctoral Academic Fellowship in the United Kingdom (2012-2013), a Post- Doctoral Visiting Fellowship at Fitzwilliam college in the University of Cambridge (2011-2012), a Commonwealth Postgraduate ODA Scholarship UK (1997-1998), and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society (FCCS).
