The Law Society of Kenya Practice Standards Committee convened by Lindah Kiome, Council Member in collaboration with the LSK Nairobi Branch through Council Member Stephen Wanjiru, responded to reports of masqueraders in Rongai Kajiado County by visiting the hotspot area around Cleanshelf. The operation was done on Thursday 7th December 2023 where the team managed to nab one masquerader who was taken to the Rongai police station for processing.
On the same day in the Coastal Region, Ms. Kiome with the Director, of Practice Standards undertook an inspection of law firms within Diani town. The team subsequently with the help of the Diani Police Officers managed to arrest an individual who had been operating a satellite law firm in Diani and masquerading as an Advocate and serving members of the Public,
On Friday 8th December 2023 the team visited Malindi town. During the operation, the team identified several masqueraders, consulted chapter officials in the area, and agreed to convene a stakeholder meeting to develop an action plan to counter the vice.
The campaign against masqueraders has been ongoing countrywide in other areas such as Kerugoya town, Kangema and Kenol, where several masqueraders were nabbed and delivered to the authorities. For more information, click on the below links to watch the stories as reported by various media houses.
