Eric Kivuva is the current Chairman, Law Society of Kenya Nairobi Branch and a Partner at McKay Advocates in charge of the Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution Department. He has vast experience in diverse and complex litigation
matters, having handled employment and labour disputes, constitutional & judicial (administrative) review, banking and commercial litigation, land disputes, public procurement, insolvencies, IP-related litigation and a number of arbitration matters.

 

Before co-founding Mckay & Company Advocates, Eric worked as the Group Legal Counsel, Standard Media Group (SG) where he stirred up things and put in place efficiency measures and procedures in the legal department, which in turn, positively
impacted the company. Prior to that, he was employed as a Programs Officer at the Center for Governance and Development where he played a critical role in the civic education initiatives aimed at sensitizing Kenyans about the 2010 Constitution. Eric
also worked as an assistant Programs Officer at the Centre for Multi-Party Democracy where he spearheaded several programs notably the push for the review of election laws and more particularly on the issues of capping Campaign expenditure and disclosure of funding sources by candidates.

 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Nairobi and a post-graduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Climate Change & Adaption with a keen interest in climate justice. He is also a registered patent agent and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators (CIARB).

 

Eric enjoys consuming and sharing knowledge. He also worked as a lecturer of Media Law & Ethics at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

 

 

He is a father of two and in his free time, enjoys cycling and exploring the vibrant creative arts scene in Nairobi.

Joel Mutuma – Chairperson

Mr. Mutuma did his pupillage at Ramesh Manek and later left to form Mutuma and Koskei Advocates and is in his 10th year of practice. He is engaged in the litigation and conveyancing departments, security recoveries and realization and debt collections for several Banks and lending institutions.

 

He has key experience in drafting of documents such as Charges, Mortgages, Transfers, Sale Agreements, Leases and Discharges, Partial Conveyance, Tenancy Agreement among others.
